Important to us on the day and always

A note from us

It didn’t take long to decide that we wanted to get married in Devon, following our move to Rainbow Cottage in 2023. When considering our wedding, there were a few things that were important to us, that we hope shine through and represent our values as a couple.

We’ve chosen a venue where we can all be together for the whole weekend. Whilst we’re the ones getting married, it wouldn’t be the same without all of you - our family and friends. We’re over the moon to have you in our lives and celebrating with us.

Hayne was built around the same time as our cottage. There is onsite renewable energy, flowers grown at the farm, and tree planting in the orchard where bell tents will be pitched.

Having the ceremony outside was essential, we’ve found a spot next to a giant oak. The plan is to head out for a walk nearby on Dartmoor on the Sunday morning to clear the heads, and we’d like to extend a warm invite to all those who would like to join.

We’ll eat sharing style, a feast of mostly vegetarian food with some local seafood, thanks to the team behind Temple restaurant in Bude. We’ve also sourced sparkling wines from nearby Swanaford Vineyard. Our rings were crafted by Devon-based jeweller Ania Wawrzkowic, who recycled some of our family gold to make rings inspired by the textures of nature.

We’re excited to share that we’ve decided to choose a new surname for ourselves - making us the Ferns!

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly - a huge thank you to our parents and families, who have contributed in many ways, including helping us to own a home and host a wedding party. And to our dear friends, who support us on this day and all days. We are eternally grateful.

Love always,

Our engagement - above the rainforest at sunrise

January 2024, Belize

We climbed a bird observation tower in the dark, searching for a view of the rainforest waking up. Whilst we had talked about our future, it was a complete surprise when Jacob proposed up in the canopy.

We stayed up there for as long as we could, listening to the birds and watching as the sun rose. Mist flowed through the valley, like the trees were breathing.

I can’t think of a more perfect spot - no one around, just us - in the Chiquibul National Park.
